As many already know, maps on most Kindle titles are impossible to read or enlarge. To add insult to injury, the entire Bengali language chapter -the one that would have been most useful in my day to day interactions in country- were also miniaturized! Amazon please get your act together and fix this problem!!!
Lonely Planet guides are not my favorite, but given that they are about the only ones who publish a guide for Bangladesh, this is not too bad. As Bangladesh grows their tourism industry I would like to see the other major travel guide companies come out with something.
This book was not good, and didn't help me much when traveling in Bangladesh for 4 weeks. Some of the information was wrong, and a lot of the information that should have been there is not there. It does not look like the author really have travelled much in Bangladesh. If you want one book, go for the Bradt guide. This is very disappointing publishing from Lonely Planet.
I went to Bangladesh for business and brought the kindle version of the book with me. Although it provides a lot of information, it seemed lacking in depth. Bangladesh is not an easy country write about, since it is both big and off most visitor's map ( but definitely worth the trip).I don't know of any better guides.
I ordered this one and the Bradt Travel Guide and while this has a fair bit of information, the Bradt guide is a better bang for your buck.

As the title says - this is a well researched Lonely Planet and as usual, simple to use. I've used a number of travel guides over the years, and a lot of the time they are all very similar and follow the same format. The one thing that struck me whilst travelling round Bangladesh using this guide is how well researched it really is. The author had clearly spent quite a long time in the country and had obviously been to the places I had been. The prices were as close as you are going to get to being correct (as we all know the prices stipulated in travel guides are out of date as soon as the hotels/restaurants etc start to get lots of business and hike their prices up!).I would definitely recommend this guide as your go to guide for Bangladesh. Highly informative and as is usual with the Lonely Planet guides, full of interesting facts and figures about the country... and although I didn't stick to the itinerary perfectly, the 1 month 'best of bangladesh' is a great starting point.
Wow... what a trip! Bangladesh was amazing, and this book was genuinely invaluable - I would not have enjoyed Bangladesh without it. We found most of the recommendations to be spot on - really fun restaurants, loads of great options for hotels, easy to use maps and loads of really interesting background reading on the country - but the best thing about the book was the information on public transport - so detailed, so helpful, and really makes the difference if you're trying to see a lot of the country and fit as much as you can into your trip. You do have the option of renting a car and a driver in Bangladesh, but if you want to save some money, and to see the country on your own, then I definitely recommend getting this guide.
