What would lead someone to believe this was for children? Well its has Disney-esq cartoon drawings, empowering message and says it will inspire. So when i bought this for my 8 year old niece and luckily read it with her rather than saying "here you go" and receiving a call from her father asking what the heck did i buy, i learned that this book has graphic themes (fairy's getting raped). So I stopped reading as my niece asked me what rape was and realized this needed to be send back asap. Super misleading and unfortunately i'm sure this is going to keep happening. Now i know to read the 1 star reviews on books that look like they're for children.Oh and on top of it, as other users stated - its not even factually accurate!
I bought this book to read with my 8 year old daughter but my 7 year old son ended up loving the stories even more. Our family is very open so I didn't have issues explaining some of the more adult concepts. However, if you have child who is sensitive or are sensitive to more 'adult topics' yourself that are presented here (as they are a part of the mythology used), I would avoid this book. It does have adult themes; if you've ever read mythology then you would know ahead of time.Great way to introduce younger ones to mythology through easy to digest, short stories with beautiful illustrations.
If you are into female empowerment. If you are into mythical being/legends. If you are into Ann Shen’s adorable illustrations. Then, this book is a must buy! I am a huge fan of her work, and I am beyond satisfied with it. Plus, it will make the most adorable coffee table book! :) Great to buy for yourself, and it will make a great gift too.

Ann always smashes it with her illustrations. This book is packed with heart and soul. It's perfect if you are looking for a coffee table book with summarized information on Goddesses from different areas of the world. It even gives you tips on channeling each Goddess, I think that is my favorite detail. Incredible follow up to Bad Girls. I've followed Ann for a couple of years, she makes more than just books. I have art prints and pins as well from her. Everything I've received is always shipped quickly and made from high quality materials. She's a great artist to look up to.
Ann Shen has created another beautiful piece of work with "Legendary Ladies"! Her attention to detail shows she has a passion for the subjects she chooses and she has made sure that each page keeps the reader engaged, entertained, and educated. I wish this book existed when I was younger, but I am also happy it exists now! It's perfect for readers of any age who wants to learn and find inspiration!
